His love for us is an ocean of mercy.
The sacrament of Confession, or reconciliation, is a sacrament instituted by Christ. ( 2 Cor 5:18-20) Christ meets us with a loving embrace when we repent our sins, seeking His mercy. The sacrament of reconciliation brings us closer to His sacred heart all while the more, healing our own heart.
Open with the Sign of the Cross.
'Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. My last confession was ... (weeks, months, years)'
Confess your sins to the priest, he who stands in the name of Christ and the Church. Do not be afraid, our God is a God of forgiveness. Ask the priest for help if needed. Above all, trust in God's boundless and saving mercy.
'This is all I can remember. I am sorry for these and for all my sins.'
Penance will be given by the priest to ammend for the sins and support the soul's spiritual growth. It is through penance which we can unite ourselves tho Christ on the Cross.
This is where we verbally ask God for forgiveness over our sins and repent, asking for His graces.
My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.
You will respond to the prayer of absolution by making the Sign of the Cross and saying "Amen."
Following leaving the confessional, complete your penence or do so as soon as possible.
